2021 Riga Regatta

After a long, socially separated break, we look forward to seeing everyone at this summer’s regatta.

The full 2021 Regatta schedule is available here. The fun begins on Friday August 6th with the Blueberry Island Rounding. Start time 2:30 pm, or so. Any and all human powered water craft are welcome (we are still trying to figure out who won the inner tube class two summer’s ago, as it was a photo finish and not entirely clear if Olivia or Dinny’s toes crossed the line first?). BYOB refreshments will follow on the Dam.

The Paul Blackburn Cup returns on Saturday, August 7th, with Sunfish racing starting from the boat landing at 10:00 am. If you have always wanted to experience the fun of buoy racing or do not have a boat and would like to sail with us, please reach out to the Regatta Committee. As always, if you have a Sunfish that we can borrow for the day, please reach out to Frank Whittier.

Food and beverage is going to be a bit different this year – as we slowly return to a new normal, we are going to take a page out of Tanglewood’s summer fun playbook. Plan to bring your blankets, lawn chairs, grills, portable pizza ovens (Lynda!), oversized beverage coolers and any other accessories that you need to set up shop for a Riga Social to match any in our 100 year history book!The evening will be headlined by Chris Shamkin and the band. The fire pit and gourmet s’mores are back as well. The evening’s festivities will kick off at 6 pm with awards and special raffle items.

• Sunfish racing will start from Chapman’s Boat landing at 10:00am on Saturday August 7th. Please email or call/text Frank Whittier (207-671-9323) if you are planning to sail with us this year
• Awards, Social and entertainment to follow racing at Daniel’s Cottage (Whittier Camp)
