As part of its commitment to Succession Planning, MRI is beginning the search for an Assistant Treasurer.

Tom Vail plans to continue as Treasurer for the foreseeable future, but he does envision passing the baton to someone else as other opportunities present within MRI. At this time, we are looking to add breadth and depth to the Officer roles, so we expect the Ass’t Treasurer will work with Tom in an apprenticeship manner to become a potential successor. The Ass’t Treasurer, assuming satisfactory performance, will be a strong candidate for the Treasurer position at the time Tom chooses to not seek re-election as Treasurer.

Candidates should demonstrate strong financial skills; deep experience with financial accounting, business management, budget preparation, financial oversight and investment management. Strong preference will be given to candidates with the requisite experience who are existing shareholders or who can become a shareholder within 30 days of being elected Ass’t Treasurer.

Candidates must be willing to assume the Ass’t Treasurer position no later than October 2021, and to make a minimum 3 year commitment to this important job.

The Ass’t Treasurer is an Officer of MRI, elected annually by the Board of Directors at the organizational meeting following the AGM, and a vital position in the governance of MRI. The Ass’t Treasurer position is not paid. The Treasurer is paid $2,000/year. The Ass’t Treasurer time commitment averages 4-6 hours per week. (Note: The time commitment in the event the Ass’t Treasurer has to take over from the Treasurer is considerably more.). Most work can be done remotely. The job description can be found here.

If you wish to be considered as a Candidate, please submit your Expression of interest and current CV to Anne Williams, [email protected] no later than COB Wed April 28, 2021.
