    Tom,
I appreciate your support for our representative nomination process. With all due respect, the vividly imagined scenario you describe, of some nefarious Board of Directors trying to pull a fast one over MRI’s intelligent, aware and committed shareholders is theoretical and –given the engagement of MRI shareholders – highly unlikely. I’m sure you didn’t intend for your educational message about voting and nomination processes to sow distrust or imply that THEY – our friends, neighbors and relatives who are willing to serve as MRI Directors and Officers and who are elected by the shareholders – are secretly en route to normalizing bad corporate behavior. It is, as you say, important for MRI shareholders to become and remain involved, and for shareholders to nominate and vote. That positive message encouraging shareholder engagement contributes to a strong, trusting, community fabric. A strong community fabric will help us protect this place we all love.

It is my understanding they are preferring not to visit in person, if avoidable. They sent a form to all property owners several weeks ago, on which the property owner could verify the information on file. If the property owner did not respond, they will likely visit. Contact Kayla, in the Assessors office.

The Maintenance and Security Committee recommended, and the Officers agreed that is that North Pond Rd gate be kept closed, not locked, as it is now, until July 7. This will help Dan do his job, and discourage uninvited explorers, especially over this busy weekend when Town Grove in Salisbury will be closed. All of us do understand that it is inconvenient for those who use the gate and their invited visitors.

    Tom:
    Great questions!
    see Cemetery dates: http://www.hale-collection.com/litchfield-county-cemeteries/618-4-mt-riga-cemetery.htm
Alice Combes’s (Alice III) and my grandmother Alice C. Schwab (Alice I) kept a mt diary 1908-1940. No mention of the flu. No change in # of visiting friends (lots) or types of activities (work, fish, hike); they skipped the 1918 fall hunting trip b/c of being pregnant with Alice II (Aunt Alice Mix of Sharon, CT).

Jess. Two suggestions: 1)Ask Ormsbee to conduct a pressure test when they deliver. We had gas smell/leak outside. Instructed Ormsbee to do the pressure test. The pressure test revealed that the regulator was faulty. The lines from the regulator to (and inside) the cabin were fine. Ormsbee replaced the regulator. 2) We’ve used Ed Brammer land line 860-435-2836 for a small leak on one of the gas lamps. He was the one who told me the right instructions to give Ormsbee. Hope this helps.

This is the whole post. Curtis says we should be celebrating. We had a cold snap in late January early-mid February this year. The cold snap 2 years ago killed almost all the hemlock woolly adelgid larvae. Curtis concludes that the cold snap this winter is likely to cause similar high mortality to the larvae as the cold snap 2 years ago. That is good news.
